Course Description

The Intro to Hand-building Class is the perfect introduction to all the best of the processes of forming clay not possible on the wheel. Frank Bosco developed this course during his teaching career at the Rhode Island School of Design, for majors and elective students throughout the university’s many departments from architecture to illustration.

The curriculum in this class addresses texturing, smooth slabs, and traditional hand-building skills are covered. Explore molds, slab construction, and of course finishing your projects using the many wonderful glaze choices from the over thirty-five studio glazes.

$1200 Tuition + $50 registration fee at the point of registration.

Group class (4) students only

Students receive a total of 4 Thursday night open studio sessions. What is open studio?

Students receive a $150 firing credit when you attend every session plus at least 3 of your included open studio sessions. 

Studio clay per bag: $50 any stoneware; $75 porcelain.

*Conditions apply for reduction firing: Size and kiln space limits all assessed for suitability.
