Clay Combine

(adults 18 years and older)

Fall 2019

Registration deadline September 30th

Course Description

The Clay Combine Class is the perfect answer that marries all the best of the processes of forming clay not possible on the wheel. I developed this course during my teaching career at the Rhode Island School of Design, for majors and elective students throughout the school’s many departments from Architecture to Illustration.

This unique class addresses aspects of imaging in, on and through soft pliable clay. Hefty tiles, extruded forms, and traditional hand-building skills are covered but it doesn’t stop there. Encaustic inlay, a process of using pigmented clay slips in creating bold line drawing and design within the clay surface, image transfer, and of course finishing your projects using the many wonderful glaze choices from the over thirty-five studio glazes.

This is a course where you can learn so many aspects of clay forming and finishing not possible in the wheel-thrown pottery classes...that’s mercy back at cha!
